In the not-so-distant future, society has undergone widespread transformation. As barriers crumbled, people from different backgrounds could interact more freely with one another. Tensions arise due to the increased proximity between and mixing of cultures.
COVENANT SEARCHING
Many promote continued separation, failing to understand our shared desires for security and prosperity. But there is a growing willingness to work together and find common ground. An exceptional and multiethnic group, the Taimanin, is at the vanguard of this shift. Their creed centers on protecting those who are weak by bravely and wisely overcoming adversity. Even though much ground was covered, the mission is still ongoing. Structures of inequality and discrimination are pervasive and persistent and need constant vigilance. But the Taimanin have prompted an awakening – the knowledge that despite our diversity, there is an underlying connectedness carrying sacred potential.
CONNECTING PARTS
The Taimanin set out to make peace. Using diplomatic means, they forged partnerships based on common principles such as respect for human rights and justice. They believed they could destroy oppressive structures with empathy and strategic nonviolence. The development is slow but tangible. In most cases, there is a dramatic shift in how people think and feel. Protests that don’t resort to violence can effectively combat corruption and inequality without falling into the all-too-common trap of demonization. Amid the chaos, a thread of optimism emerges.
A HARD WAY AHEAD
The road ahead is still fraught with difficulties. Entrenched authorities cling to the old order, sometimes responding to demonstrations with force in a large way. Despite widespread misinformation, the Taimanin are redoubling their efforts to counter aggression with stoic resistance and foster intergroup harmony via respect and honesty. As the movement for peace and reform grows, enemies gradually put down their weapons and join it. As more leaders from different backgrounds rise to empower the marginalized, the movement looks unstoppable. Contrary to widespread assumption, a new era is upon us.
